Alesi Pizza House was established in 1957. Mariano "Mike" Alesi along with his wife Bertha brought Lafayette the first Italian Pizza House. After relocating to Lafayette with his four sons, Jerome, Mike, Thomas, and Charles, Mike quickly realized that no one in Lafayette knew about pizza. They decided to open their doors on the old Scott highway, at the intersection of Cameron and Bertrand. In 1962, he moved to the current location, on Johnston Street, bringing the famous neon pizza man sign. At the time, Johnston street was considered the country, which worried Mike a bit. But after many years, now they are located at the heart of Lafayette city limits.

Cooking instructions: Cheese-preheat oven to 400 deg. and bake for 12-15.

Charbroiled Oysters
Ingredients:
1/2 dozen Whole Louisiana oysters on Half Shell
1 Tbsp. butter garlic sauce
Parmesan cheese and Romano cheese
On outside grill, place half dozen oysters (on the halfshell). Put 1 Tbsp. butter garlic sauce (see recipe) and sprinkle Parmesan cheese and Romano cheese oysters and allow to cook in shell untill oysters curl. Serve hot. Caution: Due to intense heat and smoke we strongly suggest cooking on an outside grill.
Sauce
10 ounces melted margarine or butter
1 Tbsp. black pepper, white pepper, granulated garlic
3 Tbsp. minced garlic
