Gumbo File' is a native North American spice that French settlers in Louisiana use to create spicier French flavors in their food. Now, it is considered a popular Creole and Cajun spice used to flavor and thicken meat, poultry, vegetable and seafood dishes, soups and stews. Add to Gumbo stews at the end of cooking when the heat is turned off. Gumbo File adds that extra zing, to your Cajun food. This spice can be used on chicken and fish also.

Gumbo File Directions: Sprinkle lightly over each serving of gumbo. To flavor and thicken, add 1/2 teaspoon to gumbo during cooking. Store in a cool, dry place in container or in the refrigerator for even longer lasting quality.
