Rex has reigned as King of the Carnival since he first appeared on Mardi Gras in 1872. Seven generations of New Orleanians and millions of visitors have hailed His Majesty and reveled in the glorious traditions of his rule - the Carnival colors of purple, green, and gold; the lilting anthem, "If Ever I Cease to Love"; and his Lundi Gras arrivals on the Mississippi River. The jewel in Rex's crown remains his annual glittering procession of floats on Mardi Gras morning, led by his masked Captain and a host of impressively costumed and masked Lieutenants on horseback.
Traditionally, New Orleans style King Cakes come in many different styles. The most simple, and possibly the most traditional, is a twisted ring of bread, topped with icing and then again with sugar. The sugar is usually colored in traditional Carnival colors, purple, green and golf. However, what is inside them depends on your preference, although it is usually available in plain, cream cheese, praline and several different fruit fillings.
Our Gourmet (4lbs.) King Cakes are individually made from our own Danish pastry, filled with our own specially made fillings, rolled, proofed, baked and iced using only quality ingredients. Your king cake package includes: one king cake, one plastic baby, Mardi Gras throw beads and a Mardi Gras Cup.

MARDIGRASSEASON
MAMOU, La. - The teenage boy is covered in mud, literally from head to toe. After wading through a flooded rice field to catch a wayward chicken, he wipes mud from his eyes.
"I almost had him," he says to a friend with a shake of his head, and shrinks back to his horse.
Welcome to the home of the Cajun Mardi Gras, where men dance on horseback, chickens are their prey, and frivolity is the rule.

Xtra Large KING CAKE price is $48.95 (Includes FedEx Next Day Air)
