Chocolate Chess Tarts
- 1 (5-ounce) can evaporated milk
- 2 (1-ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate
- 1/4 stick butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 12 unbaked (3-inch) tart shells
Preheat the oven to 350 F. Combine the milk, chocolate, and butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir frequently until the chocolate and butter are completely melted. Cool slightly. Combine the eggs and sugar in a mixing bowl. Add the chocolate mixture and the vanilla, stirring until well blended. Pour the mixture into the tart shells. Place the filled tarts on a baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes or until the filling sets. Cool on a wire rack. Makes 1 dozen tarts.
